Why Are NBA Fans Applauding Fans Booing Controversy-stricken?

During Monday night’s game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Los Angeles Lakers at the NBA’s home opener at the newly renovated KeyBank Center in Oklahoma City, Giddey found himself the butt of a lot of jokes on social media. Lakers fans, according to NBA social media users, heckled Giddey as he dribbled down the court. Giddey had been at the center of a lot of controversy just a few months prior.

The Thunder faced the Lakers on Monday night in the third game of a back-and-forth series, with Giddey in the starting lineup. The Australian star was heckled as he dribbled inside the KeyBank Center. Every time Giddey touched the ball, he was heckled.

The fact that Giddey was having such a hard time on the court seemed to help the Lakers. Giddey finished with 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists in 21 minutes. He shot just 2-for-8 from the field.

The Lakers were led by LeBron James, who scored 33 points, and Anthony Davis, who had 26 points and 13 rebounds. The Lakers won 112-105

However, online NBA fans were overjoyed by the poor reaction of Los Angeles Lakers fans to the allegations against Giddey. Giddey’s fans still remember when he was accused of dating a minor in Newport Beach, California, which is a city less than two hours outside of Los Angeles.
